RIYADH: More than one thousand photographers in the Kingdom submitted 3,380 photographs celebrating Saudi tourism for a competition at the Saudi Color Forum.
The five-day forum, under the patronage of Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), at the Riyadh International Exhibition Center, will start on Nov. 25. A committee of experts in photography recently picked 10 winners in each of the four themes, who will be honored by the SCTA and win prizes with a combined value of more than half a million Riyals.
Pioneers in photography will receive the Prince Salman Award for Photography during the forum. All winning photos, as well as those from other parties, will be exhibited during the second day of the forum. The forum will feature several activities and workshops on photography, as well as field applications and discussions devoted primarily to the marketing of tourism in the Kingdom.
The forum is the first and the largest of its kind concerned with photography in the Kingdom, and the employment of photography in the marketing of national tourism. It aims to prompt the SCTA’s mission in the development of domestic tourism, marketing tourism destinations and products, highlighting Kingdom’s distinguished diversity, encouraging amateur and professional photographers to underline Kingdom’s rich heritage, archaeological sites and nature as well as the country’s modernity.
